Installation   |   SANDING and FINISHING   |   Repairs

Our experienced sanding crews know how critical it is to use the proper grit of sandpaper and methods for each sanding job. If our customer wishes to match the stain color of an existing floor, we will custom mix stain to blend with the existing color.

Before sanding an existing floor we first determine the condition of and the thickness of your floors. Strip flooring, 3/4" thick can be professionally sanded and refinished 4 to 6 times. Repeated sanding can wear down the floor causing it to break or reveal nails. If your floors look scratched, have minor water damage and/or deep cuts, sanding and finishing will make a drastic improvement.

The sanding and finishing process:

  1. Determine who will move your furniture.
  2. Install plastic dust barriers.
  3. Locate a 220 outlet or fuse box for power.
  4. Sand hardwood floors with three different grits of sandpaper and fiber screens.
  5. Apply stain chosen by customer.
  6. Apply oil or water based urethanes.
  7. Install thresholds and/or shoemolding.
  8. Hire cleaning company to clean dust from sanded areas.
